About Edgebrook Lutheran Church

We believe what the Holy Spirit tells us in scripture…
John 3:16-17 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

As a faith community, ELC professes the love of Jesus Christ while acknowledging that we are created “Imago Dei”, in God’s image; and because of that we are “Reconciled in Christ.” This means that we are accepting of all people, regardless of their ethnicity, race, sexual orientation or gender.

Edgebrook Lutheran Church has been a vital center of Chicago’s Edgebrook neighborhood for 75 years. It is part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and the local Metropolitan Chicago Synod. It is a multi-generational church family drawing people from different backgrounds to share in worship, service, fellowship, mission and community. Led by our saving faith in Jesus Christ, we work together as a community to share this faith with our neighbors and live out the Gospel message through service.
