Living Our Faith: What Does it Mean to be a Lutheran?

Religion and theology are pretty complicated subjects, but in a very real sense what Lutherans believe is very simple.

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
Ephesians 2:8-9

To Martin Luther in 16th-century Germany, this was the central statement of the scriptures. We all are stained by sin, but through His death and resurrection our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ became the instrument of grace, and simply by accepting Him we are forgiven.

As Lutherans, we live in the daily awareness of and gratitude for this grace, and we strive to make our actions a response to it. All of which leads to Edgebrook Lutheran’s mission:

Transforming Lives by Sharing a Saving Faith in Jesus Christ and by Living the Gospel through Service.
