A Welcome From Our Pastor
Peaceful November! You might ask yourself, why peaceful November? This is the time of year, when it is the calm before the storm. Every year, when November starts, we are all busy doing our thing, in our routines of daily life, with a little anticipation the coming of the King at Christmas.
In November, what usually happens is that we start to gear up for the holiday shopping season. It’s not quite here yet, but we know it’s coming. The day after Thanksgiving is the busiest shopping day of the year; first there is all the cooking and cleaning for Thanksgiving and then all of the hustle and bustle of shopping for presents for Christmas and then the holiday concerts at schools and Christmas plays at churches. So this time before Thanksgiving is the peaceful time of the calm before the storm.
What I would like us to do is to take a moment and look at growing in our faith journey. It is in our faith journey that we can find peace, even in the midst of the chaotic-ness of life. Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:25-34, do not worry about anything, for worry won’t add one minute to our lives. I hope that we all will have a peaceful and faith growing November, at least up to Thanksgiving. Then let the chaotic-ness begin.
Peace,
Pastor Joe
